A 4.5 rating might be more appropriate but I decided to round upward due to the excellent responsiveness of the vendor.
I purchased the unit intending to use it to power my laptops should i find myself without an accessible power supply.
I've run a few "real life" tests with an HP ProBook 6570b and more recently with a Dell XPS 13 (for which the vendor had a special adapter tip sent to me, at no cost, from their factory in China). Here are some findings -
1. HP ProBook 6570b - started out with its battery at 96% charged, plugged the HP to the MaxOak and used the ProBook as I would on a normal Monday workday - including a full virus scan. The MaxOak battery was completely drained after 9 hours 15 minutes; the HP battery remained at 96% throughout that time. During the 9 hours 15 minutes the HP was connected, I also used the MaxOak to charge my Kindle Paperwhite reader fromm 3/4th to full, Anker 5600 mAh powerbank from empty to full, a Sony DSC-HX90V camera from 1/2 to full charge, and a pair of AYL bluetooth headphones from empty to full.
2. A second test with the HP ProBook was to drain the HP battery to 33% and then plug it into the MaxOak and do normal everyday work activity on it. At the same time I charged a Nikon EN-EL15 battery (from 13% to full), and a Fuel 9000 mAh power bank (from empty to full). The MaxOak was depleted after 5 1/2 hours. The HP ProBook battery was charged up to 100%.
3. The Dell XPS 13 test started with the XPS 13 battery at 50%; ran Amazon Videos the entire time while the Dell was plugged to the MaxOak. The unit was depleted after 4 hours. The XPS 13 battery was charged up to 100%
From what little testing I've done, it'd seem that the MaxOak lasts a lot longer when the laptop that's plugged into it is at its full charge. The MaxOak seems to deplete itself a lot quicker when the laptop battery needs charging while at the same time the laptop is being used.
For non-laptop uses, the MaxOak should charge up a crazy number of USB devices.
I call this the MOAB, Mother Of All Batteries. It works beyond my expectations. I have used it to power a laptop for two 10 hour workdays straight plus a tablet and phone and it still was not put of power. I travel a lot and it does freak out the TSA a little bit, you need to treat it as a laptop and pull it out of the case in put it in a bin to avoid delays in the airport.GREAT PRODUCT.
The battery is a monster. It has enough power to charge all of your small electronics multiple times. I especially recommend this for camping. You'll be powered for days.
In testing this device it completely charged my Lenovo y510p laptop from 5 % to 100 % in about 3 hours. It still had 1 out of the 4 lights worth of power left. It charged my galaxy note 4 ten times and the galaxy note 4 has a huge battery.
I conducted a thorough suite of tests on this portable battery and compared it against several other units sold by different vendors. The results are as follows and summarized below:
The MaxOak unit concluded benchmarking on 16 August 2019 and in summary, was the only portable battery to pass every benchmark test consistently over 8 cycles, while surpassing the competitors’ units on 4 parameters, over 8 complete cycles.
Charging: First test was conducted with an initial break-in charge/discharge loop cycle whereby unit was fully discharged, then fully charged in 4 cycles. The break in cycles were independent of the tests conducted below and necessary to provide accurate post break-in calibration results on the power meter, and performance metrics (all battery systems undergo this).
Charging rate via the included adapter was connected to an ammeter, capacity tester, and current/voltage monitor with alarms set for any deviations outside acceptable ranges. Every charge cycle produced consistent results with respect to voltage, current, capacity, heat production, and time. This process was conducted 8 times in a temperature-controlled environment, and conclusively proved a solid charging system with consistent results. No deviations outside normal operation were detected, indicating the power supply is well built, as is the quality of the internal cells.
Cells: Internal cells in this unit are different than traditional battery bank systems, which likely are what account for it's above average performance. For background, many power banks utilize 18650 cylindrical Lithium Ion cells, such as some laptop batteries. etc.
I have killed the battery of a couple of laptops by leaving them plugged in 24/7 for weeks at a time. I don't travel enough to give the battery a workout. For the past few months I have been working with a dead laptop battery because I know I'll kill the next one if I get it replaced.
BUT, This MAXOAK 50,000mAh solves my problem. When I hit the road and need to be portable, I use my MAXOAK and when I'm in my office I stay plugged into the wall. Plus, the MAXOAK is big enough to charge all my other devices too. There are about 15 connectors in the package. I'll probably only use two.
I can now say confidently that I will never be on a flight or in an airport and not be able to use my computer - or any other device. The dead battery in my laptop was 2840mAh so this is about 17 times the power. I should have done this sooner!
This unit kept my laptop running with constant WiFi and watching movies on the road for 10 hours. At the end of the trip, the power bank still had 2/4 battery capacity lights lit and my laptop battery was at 100%. I can see this unit coming in handy during camping and hunting trips as well.
Unit comes with all manner of adapters to fit any laptop imaginable. The neoprene carrying case is especially nice because of the front pouch that carries the cord and adapters too.
If I had to find a fault with this unit it would be that the cord and adapters are not right angle adapters, so when it is plugged into your laptop, it sticks out a good couple of inches, making it easy to snag on things, pull out and put unnecessary strain on your power port. I have an old laptop charger cord laying around that I plan on splicing into the supplied cord to remedy this, as I will only be using it on one brand of laptop. Again, this is being picky and is unnecessary.
I will update this review with battery capacity and any problems I encounter at a later date.
This is my new obsession. I bought this to go out of the country on a cruise. While it takes a long time to charge (figure: "overnight"), it ran my Lenovo X1 Carbon notebook for over 8 HOURS on a single charge. I've used it on a ship, for international flights, and had no issues what so ever. I had been looking for something like this for years, and every 6 months or so, I would look again. I got this expecting to be slightly disappointed, but it has worked beautifully. If you're a road warrior or someone who needs to have access to power for a laptop or phones, or combination thereof, just buy this one.
Now, keep in mind this is a battery pack, so it's intended to charge your devices. Use it IN CONJUNCTION with your laptop's battery. And, remember, if you have a computer with spinning hard drives, or a super-bright screen (i.e., a heavy computer) your consumption of electricity may be greater than what this can put out. But, if you have a lightweight laptop with an SSD that has a lower battery consumption, you'll basically have an entire work day worth of power.
I bought this to use with my Lenovo Y700 Gaming laptop & iPhone 6 Plus. So far i am really surprised at how quickly this thing recharges from zero. I have been able to charge my laptop back to 100% two times off of a single charge. My laptop typically gets 2-3 hours on battery while gaming so to have this power bank is huge, giving me the ability to get an extra 6+ hours on the go. The quality is great as well. It is about the size of a large external HDD, but still small enough to fit in my briefcase without any real hassle. I've seen some people bitching about the weight of the device, but i'm a man so i'm not affected by a couple extra pounds in my bag. If you're thinking about buying a power bank, this is the Mack Daddy of them all.
This power bank is one of best I know so far. When I bought it I wasn't sure about it because there is a lot of fake ones out there until I used it for the first time. I charged my laptop model:15-r132wmRev:2213-110 three times from 10% to 100% and my Samsung Galax lll one time from 5% to 100% and a 5000mAh portable power bank and still have 2 led which is about 40 to 50% of power, Not only that but customer service is excellent support via email they will help you if you have any question or problem with the product. Will recommend without reservation very well made product.
Ordered one of these behemoths about eight months ago. It worked very well till about two weeks ago. It basically went dead. The company stood behind the product by offering to ship a replacement at no cost to me - they said it would be here "by December 26". It arrived on December 21 - almost a full week ahead of schedule! At this point I am chalking my first unit up to being the execption, not the rule. The new unit works like it should. I have powered a Toughbook CF31, Galaxy Note 5 AND a Samsung Tab S at the same time. This thing will actually charge all three simultaneously while they are in use.
Item arrived fully charged. Works for 2 of our 3 laptops. It worked for our Asus and 1 of our 2 HPs. Luckily the hp we travel with is the one that worked with this charger. The one that didn't work was because the adaptors that come with the charger did not fit that one laptop. We are able to travel with 2 laptops and 2 phones and keep all 4 charged using only this charger. Have not yet had the chance to try air travel with it, so I can't comment on the ease of traveling through security with my charger. Overall, very happy with my purchase, it's extremely convenient and I love the security of knowing I can charge as needed regardless of location.
This product is AWESOME!!!! I've had it charging multiple phones, a tablet and a laptop simultaneously. I love that it comes with all the adapters as I have multiple laptops with different connectors. The best part is that I can confirm that it has no issues charging my Surface Pro 4. A little pricey, but this is definitely the best external battery I own. As dependent as I am on my mobile devices, this is a huge life saver when I am out and a about.
This product has been used for a few years now. It is incredibly useful for me as I live in my vehicle and do alot of work with electronics. The ability to charge my laptop and any usb device I can think of has saved me many times from not being able to do what I need to do with a depleted battery in my electronic devices. It holds alot of power and is durable. I am happy with my product and would buy another one if need me.
I originally got these batteries for camping - running a pair of 5w 100-LED string lights during evening hours. The battery seems more than capable of driving two strings for 18+ hours (and they're only on from dusk to bed; normally 4-5 each night). However, I recently found this item (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FCWLMOI) which does indeed plug into the output DC port of the battery and provides my MacBook Pro with a solid 60W charge via USB C cable - making this battery substantially more useful for my USB-C ecosystem.
This is simply a marvelous product. It does exactly what one would hope: charge a laptop while you're on the go, just like a portable phone charger. It is big, about the size of a small tablet (7", or so), but it fits nicely in my briefcase and is super handy. I've only charged it up once since I've gotten it and I use it every other day for about an hour. I love this item. Additionally, I had great, responsive customer service from the sellers. I highly recommend this product.
